What is SEER: Putting it simply. Seer rating for air conditioning systems stands for the term (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) the higher the seer rating the less electric the system will consume during operation. The best analogy is to equate seer to MPG of a car. The more gas efficient the car the better milage per gallon, the less gas efficient the less milage per gallon. In this case the fuel  is electric  guaged in killowatts. Higher seer the better the milage. High seer rated equipment qualifies for Tax Credits as well as utility and manufacturer rebates.
